Today, we celebrate an incredible milestone for someone who truly represents courage and the power of determination!

Thuy is a wife, a mother of two teenagers, and a brave woman who made a life-changing decision to move from Vietnam to the United States at the age of 42. With zero English skills, she stepped into a completely new world with a big dream and the determination to build a better future for her family.

As a SahLan Academy student, Thuy worked hard, faced challenges, practiced every day, and continued moving forward one step at a time.

She has passed her practical exam, earned her temporary license, and has officially joined the SahLan team while continuing her studies for her theory exam to earn her permanent Wisconsin nail technician license.

Thuy’s journey reminds us that success does not happen overnight. It happens through courage, patience, hard work, and believing in yourself—even when the path feels difficult.

Molli’s Journey: Nail Tech Program - From Student to Salon Owner

When Molli came to SahLan Academy, she had one dream—to become a licensed nail technician and own a nail shop of her own. She soon discovered that reaching that dream would take hard work, patience, and determination.

As a working mom raising her young son, she balanced her job, family, and nail school while dedicating countless hours to practicing and studying. She stayed focused, showed up every day, and never gave up.

At SahLan Academy, Molli worked hard to master her skills and prepare for the Wisconsin State Board exams. Her dedication paid off as she successfully passed both her written and practical exams, earning her Nail Technician license.

After graduation, she faced construction delays that postponed her shop opening, but she stayed determined, overcame every obstacle, and turned her dream of owning a nail shop into reality. During this exciting chapter, Molli celebrated another milestone—getting engaged while building a new career and future for herself and her family.

Molli’s journey is proof that dreams become reality through dedication, resilience, and the courage to keep going. From a student at SahLan Academy to becoming her own boss, she showed that anything is possible when you don’t give up.

Student Success Story: Cindy's Journey to a Full Cosmetology License

As a mother of two, Cindy knew returning to school full-time wasn't a realistic option. She couldn't afford to stop working or lose income while pursuing her dream of becoming a licensed cosmetologist. She needed a path that would allow her to continue supporting her family while building a better future. That's when Cindy chose the SahLan Cosmetology Apprenticeship Program.

After 24 months of dedication, Cindy successfully completed her apprenticeship and earned her Wisconsin Cosmetology License, opening the door to a wide range of career opportunities. She is now licensed to provide hair, skin, and nail services, giving her the flexibility to grow her career in many directions.

Although our apprenticeship focuses primarily on advanced nail training, we also provide the essential knowledge and practical experience in hair care and skin care needed to successfully earn a cosmetology license. Since many of our apprentices are passionate about nails and plan to build careers as nail technicians, we emphasize developing strong nail skills while introducing the fundamentals of hair and skincare. This creates the foundation to broaden their services in the future or even open a full-service salon if that becomes their goal.

We believe education should fit your life, not the other way around. Cindy's story is proof that with determination, the right support, and hands-on training, it is possible to achieve your dreams while continuing to care for the people who matter most.

Hoa's choice: Smart Path to a Brighter Future

When Hoa began thinking about her future, she knew she wanted to attend college and earn a degree. Like many students, however, she also understood that achieving her dream would require financial stability. Rather than taking on student loan debt, Hoa made a thoughtful decision to begin her career through SahLan Academy's Cosmetology Apprenticeship Program.

The apprenticeship gave Hoa the opportunity to earn while she learned. Instead of paying tuition upfront, she gained valuable hands-on experience in a professional salon, developed the skills needed to become a licensed Nail Technician, and earned a steady paycheck along the way.

For Hoa, becoming a nail technician wasn't the final destination—it was the first step toward a bigger dream. By working in the beauty industry, she is building her credit, saving money, and creating financial independence while preparing to pursue her college education.She has learned that a skilled trade can provide more than just a job—it can offer flexibility, financial security, and opportunities that support long-term goals.
